I Can Read

I Can Read® is founded in 2000 by academics and education psychologists Antony Earnshaw and Annabel Seargeant who developed a phonetic teaching methodology known as the I Can Read® System based on  15 years of researching how children learn to read and in treating children with various reading difficulties.

ICR learning centres offer literacy programmes to students age 2.5 to 12 years old who acquire skills in reading, comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, creative writing, listening, oral presentation skills and all aspects of English literacy.

Over 120,000 students have benefitted from the ICR System. Today, ICR is present in Singapore (headquarters), Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Australia with over 70 centres.

The ICR System is structured, cumulative and hierarchical. It is the first system in the world to link clusters of letters to single sounds by first teaching students how to access the single (phonemes) of spoken English before enabling them to create invariant sounds by combining letters in a unique manner through a proprietary coding system. It overcomes the difficulties that beginning readers face when they learn to read and have to combine letters into blended sounds. Commencing with simple graphemes, the student progresses to learn more difficult graphemes, building upon his or her successes on the way.  The ICR System empowers the student to take control of his or her own reading progress and is fun and easy for children and adults. ICR programmes are taught by qualified teachers who have passed the Company’s selection and language tests, and who have completed the ICR teacher training programme.

I Can Read® has the best reading and literacy programme.
